What is Coaching? (and how is it different from Therapy?)

    I’ve been a licensed psychotherapist for over 16 years and know how important therapy can be. And many people enjoy working with a coach and a therapist at the same time. What makes coaching different is that you don’t need to dive into your history and you can get results fast. You may feel like you need coaching for just a couple months at a time (though you can continue as long as it feels helpful).

  • Focused approach:

    Coaching focuses on specific targets in the here and now, helping you move forward in the directions you want.

  • Clarity for your next steps:

    Coaching creates clarity on the best steps to take and on what will best support you. It can be a truly transformative experience, OR it can focus simply on one issue that you wish to address.

I was trained and certified by Guiding Mindful Change, a fully accredited program training coaches for 20 years. Mindfulness means, quite simply and beautifully, being fully awake to the present moment and all its possibilities. It means listening deeply, seeing clearly, being open and curious, and knowing ourselves intimately, without harsh judgement. My own mindfulness has always been the foundation of my work with clients, enabling me to understand and relate on a profound level, facilitating powerful insights and transformation. And there are many Mindfulness practices and tools that can be shared in sessions if desired.

Health and Wellness Coaching explores issues that are impacting your health and preventing you from achieving the level of wellness that you want, and it provides you with the knowledge and strategies that are most appropriate based on YOUR priorities and your situation. I can offer skilled Health and Wellness Coaching if that’s what you’re looking for, but if not, coaching can help with many other types of issues.
